I was introduced to personal development about two years ago and I immediately dived right in. I started by listening to as many podcasts as I could and I began to follow like-minded people on social media within the industry. Something about the industry is so interesting to me and gets me so excited!
I quickly started to learn about all of these amazing personal development books, while listening to all of these podcasts and following along with all of these people on social media. Everyone in the industry is always talking about books they’ve read that inspire them and I didn’t want to miss out on all of their recommendations, so I started a list on Amazon to keep track of them.
A couple of weeks ago, I finally read/listened to my first personal development book, You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life by Jen Sincero and it was AMAZING! I listened to the audiobook from Amazon on Audible and loved that I could sit at my desk at work and listen to it while I did my work. I’ve listened to podcast for the past two years so had a feeling I would love listening to books too. The book was so wonderful, that I finished it in less than three days! For a slow reader like myself, that is unheard of! I was hooked and couldn’t wait to listen to the next book on my list right away!
Next on my list was, Girl, Wash Your Face: Stop Believing the Lies About Who You Are so You Can Become Who You Were Meant to Be by Rachel Hollis. Prior to listening to listening to this book, I had followed Rachel and her husband, Dave Hollis, on social media and listened to many of their couples podcast, Rise Together Podcast and her podcasts, Rise Podcast, I would highly recommend that you listen to both! Rachel’s book, Girl Was Your Face, was equally as amazing as Your Are a Badass, and I finished this book in about three days as well!
After finishing both of these books and posting them on social media, I received a lot of great feedback. I realized that the list I had been creating for the past few years would be just as helpful to others as it is for me, so I decided to make the list public for everyone to enjoy!
I created a personal development book list named, Feed Your Mind and it’s now available for everyone use! I’m so excited to share it with all of you because I know how important these books are to help improve our lives. I hope you will find the list of books as helpful as I do! I’ve found such peace and motivation in listening to the two books that I’ve read so far and I can’t wait to continue on through the list. I’ve received such great feedback from the list already and I’m so happy that others are finding it as useful as I do.
The books on this list are recommendations that I’ve learned about while listening to podcasts, following leading people within the industry, along with other recommendations from people who have read them. Most of, if not all of, the books are best sellers and they are all highly rated on Amazon!
I love that Amazon has Audible Audiobooks available for just about every book on the list and that they have a promotion for you to try Audible and get two free audiobooks! I actually used the free trial to listen to my first two books. I was so happy that they had this deal since it was my first time listing to a book. I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy listening to books vs. reading them but luckily, this worked as a great for me to try it out! Like I said, I’m not a very fast reader so this was a great option for me. I loved consuming the books in this format so much, that I intend to listen to a lot more!
I do wish that there was an option to get both, the audio version and the hardcover, for a discounted rate. Although I LOVE the audio format, I do think it would be awesome to have the capability to easily refer back to the hardcover book, especially for these types of books. I haven’t found an option like this yet, but if you know of one, please let me know! If I hear of one, I’ll be sure to share it with all of you!
The next book that I’ll be reading from the Feed Your Mind list is actually being sent to me by a friend. It’s called, Unfu*k Yourself: Get Out of Your Head and into Your Life by Gary John Bishop. I’m so grateful that my friend is sending a copy of paperback to me and I’m very excited to read it since it’s one of the first books I added to my list! I’ve heard great things about it and I’m excited to read it for myself. Since it’s the paperback, we’ll see how long this one takes me. 🙂
Have you listened to an audio book before? Do you prefer audio or hardcover books? Let me know if there are any must read books that you think I should add to the list!

Wow I really enjoyed this post. I have recently over the summer been trying to get more into personal development books (Unf*ck Yourself being one of my firsts lol). Thanks for sharing this list of books! 🙂

I’m so happy you like it!! 🙂 I love the ones I’ve read so far and I’m excited to read a lot more! I figure it’s nice to have one area to refer to that has all of the best sellers/most recommended books in one list!
